About Commission Pricing

I feel like I've been undercharging my art a bit because I was thinking about it and I do spend at least 6-8 hours on a single full body with details. I was reading someone's journal on how to price commissions and something that stuck out to me was they said that "your art has value" and that got me thinking. Min wage in my home state is $12/hour (WA rise UP!) but I obviously don't want to charge around $70+ for a full body with color and details (maybe if I improved A LOT I would consider it lmao), but at my current pricing (around $20-30), I'm only working at $3-$4/hour. I do like the sliding-scale pricing idea because I know some people have smaller, less detailed characters and I can usually get those done fairly quickly but I feel like I'm hurting myself a little financial-wise when I do commissions of larger characters with lots of features, details with a background and it takes me a long time to render. Hmm.
I may have to change my pricing a little bit to be fair (don't worry, I'm not gonna charge an arm and a leg LOL) but I also don't want to drive my client base away because my prices may seem unfair to them. :c I'll keep mulling it over.

Boundary
Ringo's boundary is an overgrown backyard with a bonsai garden. The yard is unkempt and overgrown with tall grass and weeds. There are many different types of trees growing in containers and pots neatly and uniformly displayed around the yard. In the center of the garden, there is a tiny shrine at the center with a small apple bonsai inside.

Personality
Nurturing, obsessive, energetic
- Ringo loves to care for and nurture the bonsai, almost obsessively.
- He is shy around humans, so he hides whenever they are around.
- Ringo is full of energy and spunk and loves to play with other Esk and visiting Esk.

Design Notes
- Ringo is very small, can fit in your hand
- Color palette is based off of a siamese cat, a light and warm tan with dark brown markings

- Eyes are an orange-based dark brown
- He has a dark brown mask that covers his entire face and tapers off to a point down his neck
- Legs have a soft gradient gray-based light tan with hard edged dark brown socks that end in the middle of his legs (socks are the same color as his mask)
- Decorative red swirl patterns are on both sides of his shoulders with a red dot in the middle of the sternum
- Tail is short and round shaped, but long enough to touch the ground. It drags behind as he walks.
- Tail tip also has the same gray-based light tan with a hard edged tail tip marking (same color as socks & mask)
- Ringo's nature feature is a companion apple bonsai. The leaves turn orange, yellow, and gold in the autumn and then the tree is completely barren of leaves during the winter. During the spring, light pinkish white blossoms emerge from the tree stems. In the summer, the leaves are fully formed and vibrant green. There is always 1 large apple hanging off of one of the branches regardless of season.

Boundary
Korei's boundary is a cave with a labyrinth of tunnels and the center of the labyrinth being a very large opening with an underground lake. He spends much of his time gathering fungi, rocks, glow-worms, and sometimes human-made materials (i.e. pieces of cloth and burlap, wooden bowls) that somehow finds its way into his cave. He uses these materials to decorate the center that he affectionately calls "his house." Korei occasionally ventures out to the entrance of his cave to visit and play at his shrine (and to take the mushrooms and the bowls that people leave for him as an offering). He is very shy and wary around humans and only appears outside of his cave when no humans are around.

Personality
Bashful, soft-spoken, kind, childlike
Korei enjoys visits from other Esk and visiting other Esk outside of his boundary. Korei is somewhat of a hoarder, he likes to gather natural materials and trash to decorate his boundary with.
Design Notes
- Being a fungi morph Esk, Korei is very small (can fit in the palm of your hand), has no toes and a nub for a tail.
- Korei's body has dark, muted green shades with half of his body being a darker shade that is a gradient (the gradient starts behind his front legs)
- Mask is a slightly lighter muted green than the top half of his body
- Front legs are the same shade of green as his lower half and is a soft gradient
- Korei's eyes are a very dark (almost black) brown with a hint of color in the lower waterline (same color as the upper half of his body)
- The tail is the same color as his mask
- Nature feature is this type of oyster mushroom, and is situated above the base of the neck and wraps around like a collar of a coat
- There are only 3 mushrooms on his back, the largest being on top
